Ello travellers! I’m Liam, or more commonly Stubby. The story? My friends nicknamed me after a French lager, creative, huh?
Anyways, I’m a Multimedia Journalism student at Bournemouth University who loves to travel. I’m only 20, but I’m quite the explorer and this has led to my love of travel writing. Oh, and I take a half-decent photo too. See a photo grid of my travels here.
Yes, I’m one of those people who ‘took a gap year’ and yes it ‘changed my life’. I got around a lot, travelling in Singapore, Budapest and even the heights of Mount Snowdon and the cliffs of Cardigan Bay in Wales, it’s all about variety. My personal best was the four months I spent in France as a holiday rep for Eurocamp, that was a proper experience – and Normandy makes my list of most beautiful destinations.
Last year I took my travels further… by quite a bit. I began in the Netherlands and popping into Amsterdam, before hitting the beaches of Menorca for two weeks of water sports and hiking.
Hiking? Yes, but only for a reason. This was all training building up to my epic Kilimanjaro climb in August. I had successfully raised £2990 for Hope for Children and was rewarded with working for the Amani Children’s Centre in Tanzania. An unforgettable experience only to be topped off with summitting the largest free-standing mountain in the world.
I love to put myself around and immerse myself in new and peculiar cultures. It’s what makes travelling fun. Next stop? The Interrail.
Regular posts, decent photos and Liam’s words of wisdom – enjoy.
